This position is located in Sparks, NV and requires the candidate to be on-site. This employee will need be located full-time within a commutable distance to the project site.



Position Overview

The Senior Data Center BTM Construction Manager is a key leader responsible for the end-to-end delivery of behind-the-meter (BTM) electrical infrastructure supporting mission-critical operations. Reporting to the Director of Construction, this role oversees the construction and integration of medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, feeders, and supporting civil/structural work, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, on budget, and to the highest technical standards.


This senior role partners closely with internal engineering, design, operations, and commissioning teams, as well as with specialty contractors, EPC partners, and utilities, to ensure the facility’s internal power systems are reliable, efficient, and aligned with business objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead all phases of BTM construction, including preconstruction planning, civil/structural support, equipment installation, integration, and turnover.
  • Oversee multiple contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure seamless execution of complex BTM systems.
  • Establish and enforce schedule and budget control, anticipating risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor overall project progress, providing strategic guidance to construction teams.
  • Lead site meetings, inspections, and commissioning handoffs, ensuring alignment with operational requirements.

Technical & Quality Oversight

  • Provide senior-level oversight for installation, integration, and commissioning of medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, and feeders.
  • Ensure compliance with design documents, codes (NEC/NESC), UL standards, and local permitting requirements.
  • Review and approve submittals, RFIs, method statements, and field changes for BTM scopes.
  • Partner with commissioning and operations teams to validate system reliability and energization readiness.
  • Drive quality control and documentation standards through Procore or equivalent project management systems.

Budgeting & Contracts

  • Manage BTM scope budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting for large-scale projects.
  • Lead RFP processes, contractor selection, and negotiation for BTM scopes.
  • Review and approve change orders, ensuring alignment with project objectives and cost efficiency.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for schedule optimization and cost savings across BTM systems.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all BTM construction coordination across internal teams, contractors, and utilities.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and mitigation strategies to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure construction, commissioning, and operations teams are fully aligned for successful energization and turnover.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and collaboration across all project teams.

Risk, Safety, and Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to environmental, health, and electrical safety standards, including medium-voltage and UPS protocols.
  • Lead risk mitigation planning related to site conditions, logistics, equipment delivery, and commissioning readiness.
  • Oversee permitting, inspections, and regulatory compliance for all BTM systems.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in construction management, with a focus on BTM or mission-critical power infrastructure.
  • 5+ years of experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • 5+ years of experience with medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, and supporting civil/structural works.
  • 5+ years of experience leading multi-contractor, large-scale projects.
  • 5+ years of experience with Procore and Microsoft Office Suite


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on hyperscale data centers or other mission-critical facilities.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning, energization, and operational readiness for BTM systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter capable of managing complex projects in a fast-paced, on-site environment.


Expected Salary Range: $150,000 – $200,000 base + an annual bonus
