 We are looking for a day or night Charge Nurse to join our team.


Provides supervision for direct care personnel in Nursing Department and helps residents to meet their needs in a caring atmosphere. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Represent Independence Care Center in a positive and professional manner.

2. Know and practice Resident’s rights.

3. Demonstrate a caring attitude in all interactions with residents.

4. Abide by Independence Care Center Personnel Policies and Procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

5. Know and practice emergency policies and procedures.

6. Perform nursing procedures per policy/procedure book.

7. Utilize all safety equipment and precautions as per policies and procedures when transferring or ambulating residents. 

8. Admit, transfer, and discharge residents per nursing protocol.

9. Supervise CMT’s, CNA’s, and NA’s.

10. Replace call-ins, as necessary, in order to meet fire code.

11. Participate in resident care plans.

12. Write monthly summaries for residents.

13. Make rounds with doctors.

14. Take off doctor’s orders.

15. Check lab results, notify the doctor as needed and file lab reports in charts.

16. Assist lab personnel in drawing blood; write nursing notes regarding blood that is drawn.

17. Draw stat blood or blood when ordered between monthly lab visits.

18. Assess residents and report to the physician as needed.

19. Report dietary changes, in writing, to the Dietary Department.

20. Assure weekly and monthly vital signs are completed and recorded.

21. Fill out lab requisitions and send to lab. 

22. Request history and physical forms from hospital.

23. Request discharge summaries from hospital.

24. Do treatments.

25. Chart in nurse’s notes. 

26. All other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be a graduate of a RN or LPN training program and have current RN or LPN licensure in the State of Missouri.

2. Must have or obtain Clinical Supervisor status 90 days after hire.

3. Must be at least 18 years of age.

4. Must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in English.

5. Must be able to deal with residents and families in a pleasant and supportive manner and must be able to work effectively with fellow employees. 

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be able to stand, bend, reach, kneel, carry, lift 75-100 lbs., and move intermittently during working hours.  

2. To assist residents in a time of emergency must be able to move quickly from one part of the building to another. 

3. Must have good physical health with no communicable diseases present.

4. Must be able to demonstrate emotional stability in order to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

5. Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
