Position Summary
We are seeking a proactive, and detail-oriented Quality Technician to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring transmission components and final assemblies comply with company specifications and industry standards. Responsibilities include in-process and final inspections, documentation, and collaboration with production teams to resolve quality issues.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform routine visual and measurement inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished transmissions to ensure compliance with specifications.
· Accurately complete inspection and testing records, documenting findings and non-conformances in reports and logs; input data into quality management systems (QMS).
· Identify, tag, and segregate defective products or materials to prevent further use.
· Verify proper use and calibration of measurement tools and testing equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
· Audit production activities for adherence to work instructions, safety protocols, and quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
· Escalate persistent quality issues, participate in root cause analysis (CAPA), and support corrective/preventive actions.
· Communicate effectively with production, engineering, and maintenance teams regarding quality concerns and process improvements.
· Train staff on quality standards, best practices, and inspection techniques.
· Lead Kaizen bursts to implement process improvements.
Qualifications
Education:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Associate’s degree or higher in Automotive Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
Experience:
· Prior experience in quality control or manufacturing, preferably in the automotive industry, is highly desirable.
Desired Skills:
· Proficient in using quality control tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
· Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
· Strong defect identification and analytical skills.
· Computer proficiency, including spreadsheets.
· Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
· Knowledge of lean manufacturing and/or quality management systems (ISO 9001) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
· Stand, walk, and communicate for extended periods.
· Comfortable working in a factory environment with moderate to high noise levels.
