Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Primary Therapist to provide individual, group, and family therapy to adolescent clients in a high-acuity residential mental health setting. This role serves clients ages 11–17 who are receiving treatment for behavioral health concerns including, but not limited to, self-harm, aggression, suicidal ideation, substance use, trauma, mood instability, depression, and anxiety.

The ideal candidate is clinically strong, adaptable, and creative in their therapeutic approach. This position is well-suited for professionals who are comfortable working with acute clients in three- to six-month treatment episodes, can think outside the box when interventions need adjustment, and are eager to grow within a challenging and rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy services.

  • Utilize counseling and psychotherapy techniques to evaluate and treat emotional and mental health barriers.

  • Conduct intake interviews and clinical assessments to determine appropriateness for admission and level of care.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment and service plans.

  • Assess and monitor client behavior and progress throughout treatment.

  • Deliver crisis intervention services and appropriately interpret and implement related procedures.

  • Analyze clinical situations and take appropriate action to ensure client safety and stabilization.

  • Lead therapeutic programming, including facilitating the evening program at least one night per week.

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and communicate any significant or unusual incidents to the Clinical Director.

  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.

  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active Georgia licensure or certification required: LPC, LAPC, LMSW, or LCSW.

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with high-acuity mental health clients.

  • 3–5 years of experience in substance use and/or mental health treatment preferred.

  • Experience conducting individual, group, and family therapy sessions.

  • Strong crisis management and clinical decision-making skills.

  • CPI and CPR/First Aid certification highly preferred (training available if needed).
