About this position
Description:
- Inventory & Control: Maintain an automated inventory management system to account for all munitions and pyrotechnics (received, issued, and expended). Assist in developing departmental plans for munitions control.
- Logistics & Shipping: Ship and receive munitions and pyrotechnics; ensure all packaging, labeling, marking, and paperwork are accurate and consistent with CFR 49.
- Inspections: Perform and coordinate munitions inspections to ensure serviceability and operational readiness. Maintain records for lost, stolen, or damaged items.
- Equipment Operation: Operate fleet equipment including forklifts, hazardous material transport vehicles, and specialized fleet equipment.
- Safety & Compliance: Apply integrated safety management principles to all tasks. Maintain all driver licensing (Class A CDL) and stay current on DOT regulations.
- Customer Service: Anticipate and respond to internal and external customer needs and inquiries expeditiously.
Position Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of on-the-job experience in a related munitions or logistics position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate DOE security clearance.
- Licensing: Ability to obtain and maintain a Class A CDL with a Hazardous Materials endorsement.
- Technical Skills: Working knowledge of PCs, MS Office programs, and automated supply systems.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 68 pounds.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of munitions management principles and CFR 49 for hazardous materials shipment.
- Travel/Schedule: Ability to work flexible hours and travel for up to one month at a time, approximately twice a year.
- Interpersonal: Strong communication skills with the ability to plan and interact effectively with support personnel.
