About the Role: The Director, Project Accounting is responsible for designing, implementing and enforcing standardized policies and procedures worldwide for the company’s billing and revenue cycle to maximize cash flow while maintaining and improving internal and external customer relations. Additionally, will develop and implement process improvements within the project accounting group. In conjunction with other senior finance staff, the Director, Project Accounting will oversee day-to-day operations on all issues related to project life cycle from project set up through project close out process. Additionally, the Director, Project Accounting will evaluate project performance and provide analysis to project managers, finance department, and other operational management groups. This position is highly visible and requires a strong leader with the ability to prioritize, plan, and direct a project accounting team.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise worldwide project accounting team and provide guidance for day-to-day operations
    1. Review the setup of new projects and modifications
    2. Revenue recognition
    3. Provide quality control review of invoices for adherence to client requirements
    4. Resolve complex billing issues
  • Develop and implement new processes and improvements to key project accounting functions
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure that the most efficient process is established in the Oracle system
  • Provide collections support to finance, credit and collections, and project managers
  • Assist with month-end close process by reviewing project reporting to ensure project financials are correctly stated
  • Provide project reporting and analysis on key project metrics
  • Review the project accounting policies and procedures and update as necessary
  • Provide oversight of project accounting activities to ensure compliance with established guidelines
  • Coordinate with senior finance staff to enhance opportunities for project accounting team professional development and training
  • Assist with extending electronic invoicing and routing system to entire company
  • Provide support as needed for annual audits and tax filings
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field desired, CPA preferred
  • A minimum of 13 years of progressive finance, analysis, and leadership experience required, with a minimum of 7 years of direct supervisory experience
  • Prior experience with Oracle project-based ERP system preferred
  • Experience with RevPro, and/or Blackline preferred
  • Experience in assessing and implementing process improvements utilizing continuous improvement or other tools to track measurable results
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Advanced skill level using Excel and proficient in all other Microsoft products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence others
  • Comfortable presenting information to all levels of the company
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; must be accurate and detail oriented
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Strong focus on continuous improvement with a proven track record for improving process efficiencies and solving problems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
