Dock Attendant
Job Description
Department: Docks
Reports to: Marina Manager/ Marina & Facilities Director
Statement of Purpose:
The Dock Attendant is responsible for the day to day tasks of the marina and pool operations. Skillfully applies the Club Rules and By-laws in a practical manner. Coordinates the maintenance and general upkeep of the marina property working collaboratively with members of management. The Dock Attendant will assist the Marina Manager and Facilities & Marina Director in providing excellent dock facilities and services to boating members so that they can fully enjoy the prime benefit of their membership.
Primary Duties:
- Provide members and guests in a professional and timely manner
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all marina docks and working areas
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs, under the direction of Marina management, to docks, dock carts, side loaders, courtesy docks, and associated equipment
- Perform daily dock checks of vessels using Club facilities to ensure that they are using assigned slips and authorized utilities
- Assist members with launching and recovery of vessels, equipment and loading provisions, proper mooring in assigned slip
- Challenge all arrivals for proper clearance and log all arriving members and guests
- Respond to emergency and security situations within the marina
- Responsible for VHF radio contact with vessels
- Keep informed on all weather forecasts and advise as necessary
- Perform all other related duties as assigned by Marina management
Fuel Operations:
- Dip fuel tanks daily. Take daily fuel pump readings and reconcile fuel tickets as directed
- Safely fuel vessels as will learn/learned in the Class C Training.
- Maintain the tool inventory
Pool Operations:
- Pool maintenance including brushing, netting, cleaning gutters and tile. Putting robot vac in/out of pool and cleaning its filters
- Monitor contractors for all in-depth pool system repairs & maintenance

Education and Certificates:
- High school graduate, and/or appropriate combination of training and experience
- The Club provides training and certificates
Experience:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Dock Attendant in marina related facilities

- Ability to anticipate and understand Members’ needs; ability to deliver superior customer service
- Ability to focus on operational excellence
- Ability to understand the flow of service and handle multiple tasks effectively
- Ability to handle telephone calls and written correspondence effectively in a timely manner
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft office required
- Basic knowledge of use and care of tools and machinery
- Knowledge of boats and line handling

- Ability to effectively communicate and use varying approaches with diverse personalities
- Ability to communicate clearly with peers and superiors
Language Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English required
- Verbal and written communication skills in Spanish is a plus
Other:
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment in various climates
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects up to 40 lbs or more frequently
- Requires writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
- Ability to stand and/or walk long distances for an extended period of time, or for an entire work shift
- Available to work weekends, holidays, and long hours as necessary
