JOB SUMMARY:


Provides assistance with patient care in a clinic environment. Assists with providing a safe, clean setting

for patients during their clinic visits. Utilizes appropriate equipment and resources under supervision of a physician or licensed staff member.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:


1. High School Graduate or   equivalent.

  

Licensure, Registry, Certification:

 

1. None

  

Personal Job related   skills:

 

1. Effective oral and written communications skills.

  

Experience:

 

Prior Work Experience:

 

1. One year of experience in a medical setting preferred.

 

Technical Training:

 

1. None required.


      

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Primary Responsibilities:


RATING

 

Provides clinic services and care for patients


 

1. Takes and records blood pressure readings, weight, and length measurements.

 


2. Assists physicians and prepares patients for various types of examinations and procedures.

 

3. Applies or changes dressings as requested.


 

4. Assists physician with minor surgical procedures performed in the clinic.


 

5. Performs basic life support skills in an emergency situation.


 

6. Follows aseptic procedures and universal precautions when involved in direct patient contact or handling potentially

infectious materials.

 

Assists with maintaining patients' files.


 

1. Prior to examination, obtains subjective information related to patients' perception of health.

 

2. Collects necessary information received concerning x-ray and laboratory reports, data from referring physicians, and

surgical or other procedure reports for patient's files.

 

Maintains   supplies and equipment.


 

1. Insures that inventory of necessary supplies and equipment is maintained for diagnostic and treatment procedures.

 


2. Is responsible for stocking supplies in exam rooms and assures the cleanliness of the rooms.

 


3. Cleans and sterilizes surgical instruments, labels the type of instrument and records the   date.
