About the Role:

The Exercise Physiologist for the Pulmonary Rehab Program plays a critical role in improving the respiratory health and overall quality of life for patients with chronic pulmonary conditions. This position involves designing, implementing, and monitoring individualized exercise programs tailored to the unique needs of patients recovering from or managing pulmonary diseases. The role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive care and optimal patient outcomes. The Exercise Physiologist will also educate patients on safe exercise techniques, breathing strategies, and lifestyle modifications to support long-term respiratory health. Ultimately, this position aims to enhance patients' functional capacity, reduce symptoms, and promote independence through evidence-based rehabilitation practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or a related health science field.
  • Certification as a Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP) or equivalent credential.
  • Experience working with patients in a pulmonary rehabilitation or cardiopulmonary setting.
  • Knowledge of pulmonary diseases, exercise testing, and rehabilitation protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote or telehealth environment, utilizing digital tools for patient interaction.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, or related discipline.
  • Additional certifications such as Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Pulmonary Rehabilitation Specialist.
  • Experience with telehealth platforms and remote patient monitoring technologies.
  • Strong background in motivational interviewing and patient education techniques.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data management.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and supervise exercise sessions focused on improving cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, and respiratory efficiency.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust rehabilitation programs accordingly to maximize therapeutic benefits and ensure safety.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and share patient progress.
  • Assist with providing patient education on disease management, breathing techniques, and lifestyle changes to support pulmonary health.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and outcomes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with advances in pulmonary rehabilitation and exercise physiology.

The required skills enable the Exercise Physiologist to accurately assess patient conditions and develop safe, effective rehabilitation programs tailored to individual needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for educating patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive care delivery. Proficiency in using telehealth technologies and digital monitoring tools facilitates remote patient engagement and progress tracking. Analytical skills support the interpretation of clinical data to adjust treatment plans dynamically and improve outcomes. Preferred skills such as motivational interviewing and advanced certifications enhance the ability to inspire patient adherence and provide specialized care within the pulmonary rehabilitation context.


Working Hours: Monday - Thursday, 7am - 5pm PT
Budgeted Hours: 8 to 9 hours per day, excluding breaks

$25.0 - $30.0 Hourly Wage
