Journeyman Information Security Analyst

Position Summary

The Journeyman Information Security Analyst serves as a hands-on FISMA/FedRAMP Subject Matter Expert responsible for executing and supporting security control assessments in accordance with NIST SP 800-53 and IRS assessment processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform technical security control assessments for SA&A, ASCA, and Event-Driven SCA efforts.
  • Develop and update assessment artifacts including SAPs, SSPs, SARs, SCTMs, and Action Item Lists.
  • Conduct evidence collection, stakeholder interviews, control assessment meetings, and findings validation.
  • Support activities including template maintenance, process improvements, automation initiatives, and knowledge transfer to IRS staff.
  • Provide SME support to assessment teams and assist with audit responses and data calls.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of experience in information security, cyber risk management, or IT security operations.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience conducting system security assessments in federal or enterprise environments.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • CompTIA Security+ CE required.
  • CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CAP preferred.
