Job Purpose
The Young Money Mentors (YMM) Program Assistant acts in a leadership role, helping to guide and mentor the high school students who are serving as Young Money Mentors. Young Money Mentors is a financial literacy academy offered by Youth Opportunities Unlimited as part of our Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) where high school students will learn positive financial habits and share them with fellow students and summer jobs participants in a peer-to-peer education model. Young Money Mentors and YMM Program Assistants will create resources such as social media posts and flyers to be shared with their peers throughout the summer jobs program, as well as give presentations on financial literacy to help encourage healthy financial habits amongst people in their generation. The person in this role will be a positive near-peer role model for the high school students, demonstrating excellent work ethic, professionalism, and a positive attitude while completing assigned tasks. The person in this role acts as a mentor for the high school-aged participants, coaching them in completing their tasks, giving guidance and advice, and answering questions.
Essential Functions
- Support the day-to-day operations of the Young Money Mentors Summer Career Academy
- Supervise Young Money Mentor participants during Financial Literacy presentations for SYEP participants throughout the community and virtually
- Provide administrative support for Financial Literacy presentations such as tracking attendance, sending invitations and reminders, etc.
- Aid in the creation of social media posts, flyers and other financial literacy focused educational materials for SYEP participants
- Provide feedback to Young Money Mentors to help them improve their public speaking and presentation skills
- Serve as a back-up presenter for Young Money Mentors during Financial Literacy presentations for SYEP participants
- Other duties as assigned

Education
- Majoring in Education, Finance, Business, Social Work or another relevant field at an accredited college or university required.
Requirements
- Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekend shifts.
- Must have experience in customer service.
- Must have valid transportation to/from Y.O.U. offices, partner organizations, and other community-based locations to meet with staff and participants.
- Must pass a background BCI/FBI check as a condition of employment.

Work Environment
- This position is based primarily in-office. The position also includes travel to community partner organizations as part of assigned responsibilities.
- The work pace for this position is usually fast paced where work is required for up to 2 hours at a time. This position requires such physical abilities as sitting for computer and phone work for long periods of time, lifting up to 25 lbs periodically and carrying office supplies, standing, and walking throughout the office buildings.
- Social interaction with team members, vendors, partners and/or participants frequently.
- The environment in which the job is performed outside a normal office space may include exposure to extreme temperature, noise, or other hazards.
Assignment Details
- Assignment Length: May 11th through August 7th
- Scheduled Hours: M-F | 8:30am-5pm (37.5 hours per week)
