About this position
The Caregiver / Homemaker-Companion provides non-medical support to clients in their place of residence or facility to ensure safety, cleanliness, comfort, and companionship. Primary functions include providing personal care assistance and/or non-healthcare related services, working cooperatively with the client and their family, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment. This role promotes client dignity, independence, and emotional well-being by delivering compassionate care and sharing timely observations with the supervisor.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client Care
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and hygiene
- Support client mobility, including walking, transferring, and positioning
- Provide medication reminders
- Assist with eating and feeding
- Perform general housekeeping tasks such as dusting, sweeping, laundry, dishes, and bed-making
- Prepare and serve meals according to dietary guidelines
- Provide companionship, conversation, and social interaction
- Engage clients in activities and hobbies that promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, or community events when transportation is required
- Offer emotional support and a reassuring presence to the client and family
- Other tasks associated with activities of daily living (ADLs)
Communication & Client Updates
- Report any changes in the client’s physical, emotional, or environmental condition to the supervisor promptly
- Work cooperatively and respectfully with the client’s family or support system
- Follow care plans, schedules, task lists, and safety protocols as directed
- Maintain accurate records of services performed

- One (1) year of experience caring for elderly/disabled adults. (Agency experience preferred. Private duty/family experience acceptable)
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and authorized to work in the United States
- Must have a valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation
- Must be able to read/write/speak in English fluently and follow written and verbal instructions effectively
- Must pass background checks and drug screening
- Ability to communicate clearly, compassionately, and respectfully
- Physically able to perform the duties required (e.g., lift up to 40 lbs, bend, kneel, stand for extended periods)
- Must present a well-groomed and professional image
