Basic Functions 

The Exceptional Student Service Manager (ESS) is an integral support to our ESS department and plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of the ESS department by selecting, training, and supporting Case Managers and ESS Mentors to create a positive and impactful learning experience for students.  They also ensure that all documentation is completed, student services are provided, and provide team development and accountability. 

The Key Performance Indicator (KPI) that measures the ESS Manager’s effectiveness is maintaining special education documentation with compliance and timeliness. Success in this position will be determined by an accuracy rate of 90% compliance as measured on the ESS monthly roster. 

Responsibilities 

  1. Documentation and Staff Support: Provides department leadership for the implementation and documentation of all ESS programming across the corporation, to include Child Find, IEP, 504 Accommodation Plans, McKinney-Vento, MTSS, and ELL ensuring compliance aligned to federal, state, and local regulations. Document interactions with students and their support team. Support enrollment processes, including reviewing documents, contacting students as needed, maintaining documentation, and collaboration with application and enrollment team. 
  2. Student Goals: Ensures the learning, behavioral, and transition goals identified in IEP’s and 504’s for students are met. Communicate with a related services team to verify services are being appropriately delivered. Serve as a liaison between students, parents, and case managers as needed. Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities to appropriate people/agencies.  
  3. Stakeholder Compliance: Works with Case Managers to provide support, serve as District Representative in MET/IEP meetings. Works with the State Department of Education and various other agencies and stakeholders to meet student needs. 
  4. Team Development: Prepare and deliver relevant professional development to the ESS team. Share appropriate information from leadership. Support implementation of new policies and procedures.  Regular staff reviews for compliance and support of individual professional goals and needs.  
  5. Legal Knowledge: Maintain considerable knowledge of local, state, and federal policies, procedures, and legal requirements regarding Exceptional Students to ensure the department is compliant in accordance with all state and federal laws.  
  6. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education/Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, School Administration, or related field
  • AZ State certification in Special Education
  • 5+ years experience in special education
  • 2–3 years supervisory experience in special education programs


Experience

3 years of work experience as a special education teacher, SPED service provider or special education administrator; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge; skills and abilities. You are required to obtain and maintain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.


 

Requirements 


Hybrid position- Remote and in person various Arizona Locations  

Hour and days of work: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm availability. Weekend community events- occasionally
