Responsibilities
Dietitian - Diabetes Specialist
The Dietitian- Diabetes Specialist serves as a leading provider of diabetes care and education within the Norton Healthcare System. Provides direct patient care and support, including management of insulin and anti-hyperglycemic agents under policies and protocols approved by supervising Licensed Care Practitioners/Providers, diabetes programming leadership, and system-based committees. Manages patient's routine diabetes care through acquisition, interpretation, and modification as appropriate of advanced diabetes technologies, including glucose meters, interstitial glucose sensors, and subcutaneous insulin infusion pumps. Delivers comprehensive diabetes care and education for nutrition, advanced diabetes management, acute/chronic complication management and prevention, lifestyle and behavior modification, while assessing comprehension, psychosocial factors, and social determinants of health. Functions as part of multidisciplinary team utilizing age-appropriate principles of growth and development for patients aged infant to geriatric. Collaborates with organizational departments/committees and partner with external programs to provide robust health and wellness options to patients served. Coordinates and administers comprehensive diabetes care through on site programs and classes to deliver nutrition and relevant health and wellness education to patients and their families in the ambulatory, emergency department, and hospital-based settings via face-to-face or remote electronic modalities. Additional roles and responsibilities will include the training and guidance of dietitian-diabetes specialist team members, participation in program research and development, and training of staff, providers, etc.
Dietitian - Diabetes Educator
The Dietitian - Diabetes Educator serves as a provider of diabetes care and education within the Norton Healthcare System. Provides direct patient care and support, including evaluation and teaching of use for insulin and anti-hyperglycemic agents, and delivery tools. Manages patients' routine diabetes care through assessment of use of advanced diabetes technologies (including glucose meters, interstitial glucose sensors, and subcutaneous insulin infusion pumps). Delivers comprehensive diabetes care and education for nutrition, basic diabetes management, acute/chronic complication prevention, lifestyle and behavior modification, while assessing comprehension, psychosocial factors, and social determinants of health. Functions as part of multidisciplinary team utilizing age-appropriate principles of growth and development for patients aged infant to geriatric. Participates as needed with organizational departments/committees and partner with external programs to provide robust health and wellness options to patients served. Administers comprehensive diabetes care through on site programs/classes to deliver nutrition and relevant health and wellness education to patients and their families in the ambulatory, emergency department, and hospital-based settings via face-to-face or remote electronic modalities.
Registered Dietitian Associate:
The Registered Dietitian Associate-NMG serves as a provider of nutrition-related education and patient care within the Norton Healthcare (NHC) system. This role provides direct patient care and support, including a comprehensive nutrition assessment, intervention, evidence-based education and nutrition-focused physical exam under policies and protocols approved by supervising Licensed Care Practitioners/Providers and RD peer mentors. The Registered Dietitian Associate-NMG facilitates and coordinates onsite programs and classes on nutrition and relevant health and wellness topics. The Registered Dietitian Associate-NMG is responsible for assisting the implementation of processes and programs, along with monitoring, documenting, tracking and reporting patient results. The Registered Dietitian Associate-NMG provides nutrition support recommendations for those requiring alternative nutrition and will measurably improve patient outcomes and adapt patient-facing education and services to fit all literacy and socioeconomic levels. As a clinical team member provides direct patient care, they will utilize critical thinking, decisive clinical judgement and demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision in an ever-changing environment. All certifications and education are to be successfully maintained. The Registered Dietitian Associate-NMG functions as part of multidisciplinary team and collaborates with organizational departments/committees and partners with external programs to provide robust health and wellness options to patients served. This position fulfills additional roles and responsibilities as assigned.
Registered Dietician Specialist:

The Registered Dietitian Specialist-NMG provides direct patient care and support, including a comprehensive nutrition assessment, intervention, evidence-based education and nutrition-focused physical exam under policies and protocols approved by supervising Licensed Care Practitioners/Providers. The Registered Dietitian Specialist-NMG facilitates and coordinates onsite programs and classes on nutrition and relevant health and wellness topics. This role is responsible for the development and implementation of processes and programs, along with monitoring, documenting, tracking, and reporting patient results. The Registered Dietitian Specialist-NMG is responsible for recommendations and management of alternative nutrition support including enteral nutrition and total parenteral nutrition as appropriate. Registered Dietitian Specialist-NMG will measurably improve patient outcomes and adapt patient-facing education and services to fit all literacy and socioeconomic levels. As an advanced credential specialist, they will utilize critical thinking, decisive clinical judgement, and demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision in an ever-changing environment. All certifications and education are to be successfully maintained. This role functions as part of multidisciplinary team and collaborates with organizational departments/committees and partners with external programs to provide robust health and wellness options to patients served. Additional roles and responsibilities will include the training and guidance of students, interns, and new team members, participation in program research and development, training of staff and providers, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Dietitian - Diabetes Specialist Required:
- Three years in specialty area
- Bachelor Degree
- One of: CDE or CDCES
- Dietitian (KY) - Must obtain Kentucky/Indiana licensure within 60 days of hire
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (National)
- Must have hospital and/or payer credentialing completed before functioning in this role.
Dietitian - Diabetes Educator Required:
- One year in specialty area
- Bachelor Degree
- Dietitian (State) KY and IN
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (National)
- Must have hospital and/or payer credentialing completed before functioning in this role.
Registered Dietitian Associate Required:
- Master Degree in Nutrition and/or Dietetics; A Bachelor Degree is acceptable in lieu of a Master Degree if RDN certification was obtained on or before 12/31/23
- Dietitian (State) (DT) - licensed in state of practice; KY or IN and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (National) (RDN), within 6 months of hire
Registered Dietitian Specialist Required:
- Three years experience as a Registered Dietitian in a specialty area
- Bachelor Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics; Dietetic Internship
- Dietitian (State) (DT) - licensed in state of practice; KY or IN and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (National) (RDN) and One of: CSG, CSOWM, CSO, CSP, CSPCC, CSR, CSSD, CDCES, NWCC, CNSC, CED-RD or CACFD
