About Rippling
Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.
Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.
Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.4B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.
We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @Rippling.com addresses.
About the role
Rippling’s Payroll product moves billions of dollars and powers payroll for companies of all sizes across the globe. As our customers scale, their expectations around payroll data accuracy, reporting, transparency, and auditability increase significantly.
We are looking for a Product Lead to own the Payroll Data experience end-to-end—including payroll data organization, report availability and functionality, paystubs, and the user interfaces that make this information accessible and actionable. Payroll reporting is mission-critical for finance teams and a key enabler of Rippling’s upmarket expansion, where reporting depth, controls, and data clarity become table stakes.
This role sits at the intersection of payroll, data infrastructure, compliance, and user experience. You’ll define how payroll data is structured, surfaced, and consumed across the platform—ensuring that customers can confidently run payroll, reconcile financials, meet regulatory requirements, and answer complex workforce questions in seconds.
You’ll work closely with engineering, design, compliance, and go-to-market teams to build scalable, intuitive reporting and paystub experiences that abstract complexity while preserving flexibility and power. You will also help define how emerging AI technologies can transform how customers discover, generate, and interact with payroll reports—moving from static reports to intelligent, conversational, and proactive insights.
What you will do
- Own the end-to-end payroll data and reporting strategy, ensuring scalability and clarity as we expand upmarket
• Define and improve payroll report availability, customization, and usability to meet the needs of finance and operations teams
• Reimagine how payroll data and reports are surfaced using AI-driven experiences (e.g., natural language querying, intelligent summaries, proactive insights), while maintaining the accuracy, auditability, and compliance standards required for payroll
• Lead the evolution of paystubs and related UI to deliver transparency, compliance, and an exceptional employee experience
• With engineers and designers, come up with platform-level capabilities that provide scaled benefit and solve for multiple use cases at once
• See around corners, spotting unforeseen use cases and opportunities to future-proof the platform
• Dig into details and “go-and-see” how customers are using the product and what their challenges are, and prioritize what Rippling should build to help them
• Work cross-functionally across product, engineering, design, marketing, and customer-facing functions to plan, spec, build, and ship new capabilities
What you will need
- 5+ years of experience in product management, or founding experience
• Experience building data-heavy, reporting, or compliance-sensitive products (ideally in payroll, fintech, or enterprise SaaS)
• Self-starter with a bias toward action and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Thrives in understanding complexity and transforming it into simple user experiences
• Deep technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional interpersonal communication and organizational skills
• Strong ability to motivate and inspire people to do their best work
• Relentlessly focused on customers’ needs
• Strong alignment with Rippling’s leadership principles, particularly “Push the limits of possible,” “Challenge each other,” and “Go and see”
If you don’t necessarily meet all of the requirements listed here, we still encourage you to apply. Skills can be used in lots of different ways, and your life experience is equally important.
