About this position
Purpose
The closer position is an integral part of the overall efficiency of the loan process. This position coordinates acceptable closing dates, handles communication with Title companies and Loan Originators and prepares closing packages for each loan.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Knowledge of mortgage product and programs including FHA, Conventional, USDA and VA.
- Knowledge of new TILA and GFE guidelines.
- Review files for accuracy and obtains missing or inaccurate information prior to closing.
- Communicate professionally with title companies or loan originators on any issues or missing items and assist with a resolution in a timely manner.
- Prepare closing figures and review / approve HUD-1 from Title Company for accuracy.
- Manage workflow to accommodate the required minimum files completed per month. This role requires someone who can effectively handle deadline, rushes etc. while maintaining accuracy.
- Assists other departments and fellow team members with their workloads to ensure a smooth flow of production of loans which are eligible for sale to investors.
- Operates standard office equipment to include: calculator, photocopy machine, facismile machine, computer, printer, multi-line telephone.
Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years experience in residential mortgage lending
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Knowledge of FHA, Fannie Mae, Freddy Mac and Ginnie Mae guidelines and the latest mortgage compliance rules (Dodd-Frank rules, CFPB Guidelines, etc.).
- Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and attention to detail is critical.
