SUMMARY
The Infusion Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing compassionate, effective and efficient high-quality clinical care while administering biologic infusions to pediatric and adult patients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Mix biologics and other medications, along with pre-medications with aseptic technique according to medication guides.
• Review health history, allergies, and current medications with patients or patients' parent upon arrival.
• Monitor vital signs before, during, and after infusions.
• Start intravenous lines with aseptic technique.
• Draw bloodwork as ordered from IV or through venipuncture.
• Chart detailed nurse's notes and charges in Epic electronic charting.
• Document detailed nurse's notes on adult patients on paper infusion flowsheets.
• Educate patients at discharge about signs and symptoms to call in to the office.
• Demonstrate sound clinical judgement while following guidelines and medication protocol for allergic reactions.
• Notify physicians of any changes in patient status since last infusion.
• Fax updates to adult or referring physicians.
• Record verbal and phone orders from physicians and enter into Epic accordingly.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Administer PPD skin tests and subcutaneous and intramuscular injections to patients and occasionally to staff.
• Participate as infusion nurse or pharmacist in research studies
• Attend and participate in staff meetings as scheduled.
• Attend periodic training sessions and meetings related to position.
• Maintain excellent communication and effective working relationships with patients, providers, as well as all staff, administration and supervisor colleagues.
• Establish remote Epic access on home computer.
• Potential to be cross-trained across other departments.
• Potential to infuse patients at satellite locations.
• Maintain RN licensure and CPR certification.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE – KSA's- OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher required with at least 1 year of clinical nursing experience required.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required:
  • Active Georgia RN license
  • Active BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
  • Electronic medical record (EMR) skills strongly desired: Epic.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • This position will be required to work in the Newnan and Sandy Springs offices.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, grasping, carrying and speaking
  • Occasional reaching, bending and stooping
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds, with assistance if needed.
  • Frequent use of computer, keyboard, copy/fax machine, and phone
  • Possible exposure to infectious specimens (blood or bodily fluids or airborne pathogens).
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • Fast paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent situations.
  • Work hours subject to office needs, to ensure coverage during all hours of operation.
