The Tax Collector’s Office, led by Abbey Ajayi, is a vital institution in Broward County, committed to fostering community trust through fair, transparent, and efficient tax collection. Our services encompass property tax collection, local business tax, tangible property tax, vehicle and vessel registration renewals, and issuing fishing and hunting licenses. SOME ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Develops strategic partnerships with constituents, key stakeholders, and community partners to  enhance awareness, refine areas of focus, and address shared challenges. 
  • Represents the Tax Collector at a variety of community events and meetings.
  • Develops and expands a network of strategic contacts through regular, consistent outreach. Assists with content creation and management for the agency’s internal digital signage. 
  • Develops content for a variety of print and online publications. 
  • Creates activities and print/digital/speech/social content for client outreach & education campaigns that inspire engagement and positive response. 
  • Develops, maintains, and expands productive professional contacts with local opinion-shapers,  appointed and elected officials, their staffs, and community stakeholders, activists and business leaders.  
  • Attends public and professional community meetings and events to secure measurable outreach  objectives reflecting departmental objectives and professional standards. 
  • Ensures all content, both internal and external are on-brand, consistent in style, quality and tone of voice  for all channels of content including online, social media, email, mobile, video, print and in-person to  inspire engagement and positive response.  
  • Responsible for implementing approved content strategy that supports and extends CNMG communication initiatives, both short- and long-term, and maintaining accurate and timely metrics. Continuous evolvement of strategy based on data and metrics is a must. 
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to advance the agency’s mission and recommend internal and external  strategies to address issues based on positions taken. 


Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 


Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Political Science, Public Policy or a related field with the following  experience or a combination of experience and education:  

  • Two or more years in Civic Engagement, Public Affairs or Government Relations
  • 3-5 years established experience in both internal & external written communications
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across agencies and institutions
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project experience is a plus
  • Position requires a valid Florida driver’s license, reliable transportation, current auto insurance and approximately 30% local travel
  • Experience working with an elected official is not required but strongly preferred
