<div style="text-align: center;"><br>$5,000 HIRING INCENTIVE</div><div style="text-align: center;">PAYMENT SCHEDULE</div><div style="text-align: center;">$3,000 PAID UPON HIRE</div><div style="text-align: center;">$2,000 AT SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF PROBATION</div><br><div data-empty="true" style="text-align: center;">1ST REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS WILL TAKE PLACE ON 2/27/2025</div><br><div style="text-align: center;">The City of Redlands is rated as a T5/D5 water system.</div><br><div style="text-align: center;">The City encourages and supports career development by reimbursing staff for approved CEUs and specific water industry training related to assigned job functions. </div><br><div>Under general supervision, plans, schedules, lays out, trains and participates in operation and maintenance of the Municipal Utilities and Engineering Department potable, non-potable/recycled water distribution system, performs a full range of welding and fabrication work, repair and install distribution and infrastructure, repair equipment, operate heavy equipment, and perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks. Exercises technical and functional leadership over assigned staff.</div>
<strong><em>Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:</em></strong><br><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li>Leads, trains oversees, and works together with assigned staff to ensure the proper, safe and efficient operation of the water distribution system;</li><li>Provides input in the evaluation of assigned personnel, identifies development needs and makes recommendations;</li><li>Drives, operates, and maintains equipment, tools, and vehicles;</li><li>Provides for the training of assigned personnel, ensures adherence to safe work methods, procedures and practices; and provides technical assistance and advice;</li><li>Responds tactfully and effectively to customer inquiries and complaints;</li><li>Ensures timely completion of preventive maintenance programs;</li><li>Prepares requisitions for necessary tools, equipment, and supplies;</li><li>Researches and recommends new operational methods, techniques and equipment, and recommends their application;</li><li>Ensures adherence with safety programs and practices in work methods and procedures;</li><li>Educates employees on rules, regulations, codes, safe work habits and potential hazards presented by their work environment;</li><li>Surveys surrounding work area for proper elevation as per plans;</li><li>Performs additional construction and maintenance tasks including concrete work, truck driving, and a variety of installation and repair activities;</li><li>Maintains and updates a variety of records, logs, reports, and maps;</li><li>Serves as Water Distribution Supervisor in their absence, as requested; and</li><li>Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.</li></ul>
<div><strong>Experience:</strong></div><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li>Four years of experience in the installation, construction, and maintenance of water distribution system pipelines, valves, and appurtenances.</li></ul><div><strong>Education:</strong></div><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li>High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by courses in water technology.</li><li>Some college level coursework in water technology, environmental sciences, or related field is desirable.</li></ul><div><strong>Licenses and Certificates:</strong></div><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li>Possess and maintain a valid Class B Commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement.</li><li>Possession and maintenance of a California State Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Grade D3 Certificate.</li><li>Possession and maintenance of a California State Water Resources Control Board Water Treatment Operator Grade T2 Certificate, or must possess within 18 months from appointment.</li></ul><div><strong>Special Requirements:</strong></div><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li>May be required to participate in standby/on call program.</li></ul><em>Essential functions and duties require the following physical abilities and work environment:</em><br><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li>Regularly sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, and lift up to 100 lbs.;</li><li>Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate and reach with hands and arms;</li><li>Regularly exposed to heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, explosive materials, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, and traffic hazards;</li><li>Regularly travel to different sites and locations;</li><li>Ability to distinguish color and wear protective apparel; and</li><li>Must be able to communicate with others and to exchange information accurately.</li></ul>
