Role Overview
- DSP employees are responsible for ensuring the well-being, safety, and comfort of residents during the hours of 8 am - 8 pm for the dayshift position, and 8pm - 8am for the nightshift position. DSPs assist as needed with personal care, monitor health and behavior, complete household tasks, and maintain a structured, calming environment.
- All DSPs focus on resident well-being, safety, and quality of life, fostering dignity, respect, and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Personal Care: Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
- Medical Support: Administer medications and document health/behavior changes.
- Mobility Assistance: Support safe transfers, positioning, and movement.
- Behavioral Support: Implement behavior plans and encourage positive engagement.
- Activities & Socialization: Lead recreational activities and outings.
- Communication: Maintain professional contact with families and team members.
- Safety & Environment: Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and safety protocols.
- Documentation: Accurately record care, incidents, and observations per policy.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: Experience with autism, profound disabilities, or developmental differences.
- Ability to pass background checks, drug screenings, and physicals.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Compassion, patience, and reliability.
- Valid SC driver’s license with a clean driving record.
