Office Assistant
KeenLogic is seeking an Office Assistant to join our team at the House of Representatives Childcare Center on Capitol Hill. The purpose of the House Childcare Center (HRCCC) is to provide full-day, year-round quality childcare for children of the Members of the House of Representatives, their staff, and House support personnel.

The Office Assistant plays a key role in supporting the daily administrative operations of the House of Representatives Childcare Center (HRCCC). This individual will serve as a welcoming presence for families and staff while ensuring the center’s front office functions efficiently and professionally. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires discretion, strong communication skills, and attention to detail.

This position provides staffing support for both planned extended leave (such as parental or medical leave) and short-term, on-call coverage needs. Assignments may be full-time (40 hours per week, Monday–Friday) for defined periods, or short-term based on operational needs. Shifts are scheduled within operating hours (8:00 AM – 6:30 PM) and consist of 8 working hours with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. Some roles may require availability on short notice.

Required Qualifications 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred
  • Prior experience in administrative support or customer service
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn childcare management systems
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Be able to secure and maintain Federal Government security checks as deemed appropriate
Job Expectations
  • Serve as the first point of contact for families during drop-off and pick-up, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
  • Assist families with completing enrollment forms, permissions, and other required documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with HRCCC policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support scheduling, filing, and organization of administrative tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with families and staff regarding center updates, policies, and events.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and problem-solving skills to handle unexpected situations.
  • Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Ability to proactively observe emerging needs and willingness to take initiative without directives.
  • Ability to maintain consistent and reliable attendance required. Flexibility with scheduling as needed.
Description of Work
  • Greet and assist families during arrival and departure times, providing guidance and answering questions.
  • Organize and process forms, including enrollment, medical, and emergency contact information.
  • Maintain office systems such as filing, record-keeping, and supply inventory.
  • Coordinate communication between families and staff, including distributing notices and reminders.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments, meetings, and events as needed.
  • Monitor and respond to emails and phone calls promptly.
  • Support compliance by ensuring all documentation is complete and up to date.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation of the childcare center.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
