System Administrator – Server & Cloud Infrastructure

 

Overview

We are seeking a Server & Cloud Systems Administrator to design, operate, and maintain enterprise server and cloud infrastructure supporting mission-critical systems. This role focuses on backend infrastructure platforms—including compute, virtualization, storage, networking, and cloud services—rather than desktop or end-user support. The ideal candidate is a hands-on infrastructure engineer with deep experience in Windows/Linux servers and modern cloud environments.

 

Responsibilities

  • Server & Infrastructure Operations
    1. Administer and maintain Windows Server and Linux server environments (physical and virtual)
    2. Deploy, configure, and manage virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere / Hyper-V / KVM)
    3. Manage enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS) and backup platforms
    4. Perform OS hardening, patching, lifecycle management, and upgrades
    5. Monitor system health, capacity, and performance
      • Cloud Infrastructure Administration
        1. Administer cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud)
    6. Manage compute, storage, networking, and identity services:
      • EC2/VMs, VPC/VNet, IAM, S3/Blob Storage, Load Balancers, Security Groups, etc.
    7. Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM/Bicep)
    8. Support hybrid environments (on-prem ↔ cloud connectivity)
  • Networking & Security
    1. Configure and maintain server-side networking (DNS, DHCP, NTP, routing, firewall rules)
    2. Implement segmentation, access controls, encryption, and logging
    3. Support vulnerability remediation and security compliance activities
  • Automation & Reliability
    1. Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Python
    2. Build monitoring and alerting solutions

 

  1. Participate in incident response and root-cause analysis
  2. Develop operational runbooks and documentation
  • Collaboration
    1. Partner with DevOps, cybersecurity, and application teams
    2. Provide infrastructure guidance for new systems and deployments
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Strong Windows Server and Linux administration background
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.)
  • Experience administering cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls)
  • Experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM/Bicep)
  • Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with enterprise backup and DR platforms
    • Experience supporting compliance frameworks (NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, SOC 2, FedRAMP, CMMC)
    • Relevant certifications:
  • AWS SysOps Administrator / Solutions Architect
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator
  • VMware VCP
  • RHCSA/RHCE

 

Clearance:

 

  DOW secret level clearance.  

 

Education & Experience:

 

  • 7+ years of IT infrastructure experience with 5+ years managing server environments
  • A bachelor’s degree.  A preferred degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other Engineering or Technical discipline. 
  • 3 additional years of applicable experience as a System Administrator with appropriate certifications may be substituted for the degree.

  • Minimal.
