About the Role:
The Registered Nurse (PRN) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care on an as-needed basis, providing flexibility to meet fluctuating patient volumes and staffing needs. This position requires the nurse to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients across various healthcare settings, ensuring adherence to established protocols and standards. The nurse will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal patient outcomes and support continuity of care. Additionally, the role demands maintaining accurate and timely documentation, patient education, and advocating for patient safety and comfort. Ultimately, the Registered Nurse (PRN) contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery by providing skilled nursing care during peak demand periods or staff shortages.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice within the United States.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Associate's Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent.
- Demonstrated clinical experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in acute care, outpatient, or long-term care environments.
- Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to varying shift schedules as required by PRN status.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Advanced certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical documentation software.
- Previous experience working in a PRN or per diem nursing role.
- Strong familiarity with specialty areas such as emergency care, critical care, or medical-surgical nursing.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on clinical findings.
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures safely and accurately according to physician orders and nursing standards.
- Monitor patient progress and respond promptly to changes in condition, escalating concerns to appropriate healthcare providers.
- Document all nursing care, patient interactions, and clinical observations thoroughly and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care to promote recovery and wellness.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and optimize outcomes.
- Adhere to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and organizational policies to maintain a safe care environment.
