Position Summary:
This role is responsible for ensuring their respective production cell/area is actively engaged to meet daily customer demand and production schedule. The Production Team Lead provides effective training to the production team and ensures safety and quality standards are always maintained. This is a frontline leadership position which requires leadership skills such as but not limited to; communication, accountability, awareness, decision making, problem solving, influencing, motivation, and coaching.
The Production Team Lead serves as a working lead, working within the Production Area in addition to the lead responsibilities.
Essential Responsibilities: (other duties as assigned)
- Work with the supervisor(s) and other leaders to manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and production schedules are met.
- Serve as a working lead, working with Production and operating machinery when necessary or to assist if other members of Production are on PTO, absent or when necessary due to work loads and business needs
- Coordinate and execute employee training to ensure that established processes are followed, and all Komponents requirements are being met.
- Use basic problem-solving skills to ensure efficient operation of the work cell.
- Escalate and report problems or concerns related to scheduling, quality, processes, equipment, materials and/or labor to the Production Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Provide frontline leadership, including influencing, motivating, coaching, and challenging others, as well as holding employees accountable to set standards and expectations.
- Collaborate with all support staff such as maintenance, engineering, supervision, material handling, scheduling, etc., while displaying a level of professionalism.
- Observe, maintain, coordinate and complete standard work, while driving your team toward efficiency and production goals.
- Update production metrics and facilitate regular team communication.
- Demonstrate proficiency with all tasks and techniques related to production as well as familiarity with all Komponents products.
- Identify, support, and drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Participate as an active member of the production cell team, but with the understanding you are in a frontline leadership role and should lead by example.
- Ensure your team’s adherence to the documented instructions, policies, processes, and procedures designated by the company’s Quality System, which include SOP/MS/DHF, etc.
- Promote and maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
- Give direction and provide frontline leadership to your team in the absence of the supervisor.
- Coach employees and work with the supervisor to address issues related to performance and behavior.
- Assist engineering/management in developing work instructions and provide feedback on new equipment and product development.
- Provide input into employee performance and annual reviews.
- Display and communicate a positive attitude to and with your team.
- Participate in interview assessments as necessary and provide feedback to Supervisor and or HR.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma with at least 2 years of experience within a production/manufacturing facility
- Experience leading teams or projects strongly desired
- Mechanical/Technical Aptitude
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proven experience in coordinating staffing to meet production schedules
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, as well as procedure manuals
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- Basic Computer skills
- Lean manufacturing and continuous process improvement experience preferred
- Reliable with regular and consistent attendance
Physical / Mental Demands:
- Moderate to heavy lifting = average of 30 pounds regularly (about 1 time per hour) and possibility of up to 50 less frequently
- Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
- Fingering - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling
- Grasping - Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, quality and thoroughness of the work
- The ability to stand and/or walk for the entirety of the shift
