The Network Engineer plays a key role in planning, implementing, and maintaining the network and security infrastructure of our organization. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our network, systems, and data. This role involves designing and managing network components, implementing security measures, and responding to network-related issues and threats. Looking for a team player with strong communication skills, good customer service, and experience working closely with all facets of IT Operations to address issues.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and deploy network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Ensure network scalability and high availability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess network requirements and develop solutions.
- Implement security policies, access controls, and encryption to protect the network and data.
- Oversee regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests.
- Respond to security incidents, investigate breaches, and recommend security improvements.
- Monitor network performance, analyze data traffic, and optimize network resources.
- Troubleshoot network issues, resolve connectivity problems, and maintain network stability.
- Create and maintain comprehensive network and security documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and policies.
- Manage Meraki Network Infrastructure: Configure and maintain Cisco Meraki MX firewalls and MS switches, including VLANs, VPNs, security policies, and switch port settings via the Meraki Dashboard.
- Troubleshoot & Secure Meraki Systems: Implement and troubleshoot network security, connectivity, and performance issues across Meraki devices, utilizing dashboard analytics and logs.
- Provide technical support to end-users, addressing network and security-related queries and issues.
- Collaborate with the IT helpdesk to resolve complex network-related problems.
- Ensure that network configurations and security practices comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and enforce network security policies and best practices.
- Stay updated on the latest networking and security technologies.
- Train and educate team members on network and security best practices.
Key Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven Experience with Cisco Meraki: At least 2-3 years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing networks utilizing Cisco Meraki MX Security Appliances and MS Switches.
- Relevant industry certifications, such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Network and Security Engineer or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in network protocols, security technologies, and firewall administration.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work under pressure, often in a deadline driven environment.
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with superior attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
- Networking Fundamentals & Certifications: Solid understanding of core networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, VLANs) and network security principles. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, Meraki Network Associate) are a plus.
- Experience with cloud network architectures (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) and network virtualization.
- Familiarity with network automation and scripting (e.g., Python).
- Experience with intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS)
