SUPERVISES: Garden staff and lead, volunteers and consumers working in the Garden
BASIC FUNCTIONS: Perform duties under the direct supervision of the Program Manager. Works directly with adults, with mild to profound developmental disabilities by assisting the staff and providing daily training and instruction for achieving consumer goals and objectives. Trains consumers in all aspects of gardening and ensures that the garden is within safety and agricultural standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee daily operations of gardenWork closely with AC Program ManagerMaintain a close working relationship with managementPlay a vital role in the development of a business plan for the gardenStructure garden programming for AC, ADC and Senior consumersDevelop work-training areas; piece rate, hourly rateImplement program curriculumAssists in Overseeing and directing garden staffProvide input for garden staff annual reviewsResponsible for implementation of consumer goalsResponsible for delegating/assigning responsibilitiesWork with development department in preparation for annual fundraiser(s)Accommodate short notice requests for projects from administrationManage special events and markets (garden related) in the communityAssure that individual ISP goals that relate to the garden are implementedReport all accident/injuries as required in writing including all suspected adult abuse as well as discrimination and/or harassment.Maintain confidentiality related to management discussions and decisionsAssist in the development of garden related goalsAssure that daily documentation is completed by garden subordinatesMaintain professional demeanor during toursAttend management meetings when requestedAssure a safe working environment is maintainedOverseeing garden documentationDevelop professional, caring, empathetic relationship with consumersMaintain professional boundaries with consumersProvide professional customer serviceAttend all staff meetings as scheduledResponsible for becoming familiar with SMSC’s policies and procedures and maintaining proper program confidentialityResponsible to report any documented or suspected unlawful discrimination and harassmentExpected to provide appropriate personal care to program participants based on individual needs. Follow all applicable laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to the Lanterman Act Title 17 and Title 22 of the State of California. Must have a working knowledge of all SMSC policies and procedures on confidentiality.Ensure that all programs and Regional Center standards, Lanterman Act, and other applicable requirements are maintained.Responsible for performing other tasks as required and directed by Programs Manager and/or Director of Programs to meet program guidelines and safety.Work on the floor when required due to staffing shortages for participants’ health and safety. Expected to provide appropriate personal care to program participants based on individual needs, i.e. assisting with personal hygiene tasks.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS:
Individual will frequently be required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms; occasionally require to climb or balance; frequently bends, twists, stoops and kneels; and will assist with lifting and transferring adults from wheelchairs to a variety of locations with the organization or community. Frequently may have to lift up to 50 lbs. for purposes of consumer safety or setting up activities. Will be required to work outside in all weather conditions. May be required to walk distances up to one-half mile in length. Occasionally there will be situations requiring high stamina. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Maintain the garden area, all equipment and storage areas in a safe, locked, organized and working fashion with all state health regulations. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
