Duties and Responsibilities: <ul><li style="margin: 0.0px;color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;">Operates a bus or multi-passenger van, transporting passengers to and from designated locations</li><li style="margin: 0.0px;color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;">Performs pre and post inspection of the bus or van including that the vehicle is sufficiently fueled</li><li style="margin: 0.0px;color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;">Inspects inventory of medical supplies pre and post trip</li><li style="margin: 0.0px;color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;">Assists elderly, children and/or disabled passengers on and off bus or van ensuring that passengers are wearing seat belts</li><li style="margin: 0.0px;color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;">Keeps interior and exterior of vehicle clean and neat, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning windows/windshield</li><li style="margin: 0.0px;color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;">Maintains records of mileage, routes, times and incidents; completes trip/inspection reports</li><li style="margin: 0.0px;color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;">Prepares and maintains maps of routes and pick-up points</li><li style="margin: 0.0px;color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;">Assists at Precinct functions as needed </li></ul> Harris County is an Equal Opportunity Employer https://hrrm.harriscountytx.gov/Pages/EqualEmploymentOpportunityPlan.aspx If you need special services or accommodations, please call (713) 274-5445 or email <a href="mailto:ADACoordinator@bmd.hctx.net" target="blank">ADACoordinator@bmd.hctx.net</a>.   This position is subject to a criminal history check. Education:<ul style="list-style-type: disc;margin-left: 0.0in;"><li>High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution.</ul>Licensure/Certification:<ul><li style="margin: 0.0px;">Must have a Texas class “B” CDL with passenger endorsement</ul><div style="margin-top: 0.0in;margin-right: 0.0in;margin-bottom: 8.0pt;margin-left: 0.0in;padding: 0.0in 0.0in 1.0pt 0.0in;">Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: <ul type="disc"><li style="margin: 0.0px;">Knowledgeable of driving safety practices, traffic laws and regulations<li style="margin: 0.0px;">Must have good verbal communication skills<li style="margin: 0.0px;">Ability to operate a bus or multi-passenger van under all driving and road conditions<li style="margin: 0.0px;">Ability to drive bus for extended periods of time<li style="margin: 0.0px;">Must have and maintain a good driving record<li style="margin: 0.0px;">Wear Precinct provided uniforms at all times<li style="margin: 0.0px;">Must pass physical examination<li style="margin: 0.0px;">Ability to work with a diverse group of senior citizens<li style="margin: 0.0px;">Ability to work well with public and staff members </ul>   NOTE: Qualifying education, experience, knowledge, and skills must be documented on your job application. Experience:<ul><li>Two (2) years’ experience driving a passenger bus (preferred)</ul>

Noise level in the work environment is usually average.<li>This position is prominently sedentary however, may require some light physical activity.
