Job opening for a qualified individual working as part of a team with other Assistants and Teachers. Basic responsibilities include helping school-age children in our curriculum-based program by providing: homework assistance, participating in fun activities that include art, crafts, science, music, drama, physical education, cooking, and games, coordinating Kids Clubs, and facilitating a variety of group activities to encourage discovery and exploration. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Meet the requirements set by the Department of Social Services under Title V for teachers: A Minimum of 12 units of Early Childhood Education college coursework pertaining to infants, toddlers, and/or preschool children. Teaching Credential, Child Care Permit or Certificate, or BA preferred.
  2. Minimum of 6 months full-time or one-year part-time experience working with children in a licensed child care center or in an elementary school.
  3. Applicants must be personable, reliable, and child-oriented.
  4. Proven ability to work effectively and professionally with children, families, and adult staff.
  5. Demonstrated skills in effective communication, both written and verbal.
  6. Strongly preferred: recreation background, arts, foreign language, and/or musical instrument skills.
  7. First Aid and CPR certification preferred.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Site Director and/or Assistant Director, the Teacher/Assistant is responsible for the following areas:

  1. Maintain safety and ensure the welfare of all enrolled children, supervising children during all activities.
  2. Assist in the maintenance of appropriate standards for children's discipline and behavior standards using non-punitive methods.
  3. Day-to-day operation, including maintaining a harmonious and efficient work environment
  4. Curriculum: planning, implementation, and documentation and evaluation, such as arts and crafts, group time, science, indoor and outdoor games, snack and lunch, and rest period as indicated by the Director. Lesson plans, curriculum plans, supply requests, etc., are completed on time.
  5. Develops and maintains professional relationships with school teachers, program co-workers, families, and other admin staff.
  6. Attends staff meetings and other work-related functions as required.
  7. Assists in maintaining and providing periodic testing of the emergency response plans.
  8. Continues to develop professional self.
  9. Able to lift 40 lbs.
  10. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
