About this position

Job Description:

4 positions in Fall and 4 positions in Spring, with either the ceramics or glass courses, which can include both electives and Major studio.

 Assist teachers in demos and loading and firing kilns. Prepare, move, and organize materials and equipment for class use. 

Mentor or work with students in the class on foundational skills related to the course content. These skills will vary depending on the particular courses offered during the academic year.

Monitor outside of class work sessions.

Present demonstrations and discussions for informational sessions in the ceramics department.

Assist with the preparation of the studio space for the semester.  

Please note: Hiring may be for the position per semester, rather than the full academic year. This will depend on the content of the course and the work-study student's knowledge base.

Qualifications/Skills Needed:

Variable with class, but all need advanced experience with ceramics or kiln-cast glass materials (depending on the course) and with forming, glazing, firing methods, and excellent communication skills. 

Ability to follow directions, often working without direct supervision.

Punctual, dependable, responsible.

 


Salary Information

$13.75 Hourly Wage
