Overview of the role:
Assistant controller plays a significant role in the financial management of the organization.
Reporting to Controller/Senior accounting manager, this role is responsible for supervising
major financial aspects of the company, ensuring its financial accuracy, and providing
insightful suggestions to support organizational objectives.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Financial Planning and Strategy
- Develop and implement financial plans aligned with the organization's goals and
- objectives.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to the controller and senior executives.
- Conduct regular financial analysis to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
2. Financial Management
- Supervise the company’s financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, and
- financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting principles.
- Optimize financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
3. Risk Management
- Identify and assess financial risks, proposing strategies to mitigate them.
- Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Stay informed about industry trends and changes in financial regulations.
4. Capital Management
- Be insightful in the company’s capital structure to optimize funding and liquidity.
- Analyze investment opportunities and assess their impact on financial performance.
- Work with financial institutions and banks to secure necessary funding and manage relationships.
5. Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and presentations for
- internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with reporting requirements and standards.
6. Strategic Leadership
- Collaborate with the executive team and general managers to align financial
- strategies with overall business objectives.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of
- accountability and continuous improvement.
- Participate in key decision-making processes as a trusted advisor.
7. Treasury & Cash Management
- Manage cash flow and liquidity to meet operational needs.
- Develop and implement strategies for cash management, working capital, and risk mitigation.
- Monitor and manage relationships with banks and financial partners.
8. Tax Planning and J-SOX Audit Compliance
- Develop and execute tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position.
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with external advisors as needed.
- Ensure adherence to the Japanese Sarbanes-Oxley (JSOX) Act requirements, supervising the implementation and maintenance of internal controls to guarantee accurate financial reporting and compliance with JSOX regulation
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (MBA, CPA, or CMA
preferred).
Proven 3+ years of experience in a financial role.
Strong understanding of financial management, accounting principles, and business
operations.
Analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Leadership and interpersonal abilities.
Communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to
diverse audiences.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
Experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
