Responsible to the Assistant Dean of Students for specific residential area operation management

  

Administrative: 

o Direct operations of assigned residential buildings

o Authority for and management of area budget

o Participate in staff and professional development meetings both in Residence Life and Student Development

o Open and close buildings; assess for facility damages

o Work collaboratively with Facilities Planning and Management; approve student submitted work orders

o Serve on departmental, divisional and college committees as requested

On-Call/Emergency response:

o Participate in academic year Area Coordinator on-call schedule

o Participate in summer Student Development on-call schedule

o Participate in emergency response and crisis intervention as required

o Address summer guests violating community standards and report situation to appropriate Conference Services or Upward Bound personnel

Student Conduct: 

o Educate students on community conduct standards 

o Enforce campus policies concerning student behavior

o Conduct administrative conferences and assign sanctions

Community Building:

o With Resident Advisor staff, create and implement intentionally designed social, educational and community development initiatives for area residents

o Advise area Programming Board

o Facilitate area roommate mediations and room changes

Staff Supervision:

o Provide on-going training, supervision, and evaluation of Residential student staff. 

o Supervise individual and area Residential student staff meetings. 

o Provide timely and professional evaluation of Residential student staff. 

Share in the implementation of the following responsibilities:

o Plan and coordinate Resident Advisor selection process

o Coordinate Residence Life’s education and promotion of sustainability initiatives in all residential buildings

o Coordinate the application and selection process for specialty housing opportunities, as well as monitor and advise groups throughout the year including Green Pods and Inclusive Housing

o Develop and implement student leadership training for student staff and Programming Board members

o Coordinate faculty-involvement initiatives

o Assist with Late Night Central, Intramurals and other divisional programming initiatives

o Work as a team with other Residence Life professional staff and Student Development staff.

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree and full-time residence life experience required.

· Master’s degree in Student Affair’s or related field preferred.

· Evidence of strong administrative, team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills is essential.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks is necessary. 

· On campus residence required - unfurnished apartment is provided and a meal plan is provided while school is in session.
