About this position
The Morrow Laboratory at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York city is recruiting postdoctoral fellows with interest in mouse cardiac development. We are seeking applicants who wish to pursue research specifically in the following areas: (1) Mouse embryo morphogenesis; (2) Mouse genetics and gene regulation; (3) Single cell RNA-sequencing with bioinformatic analysis; (4) Cardiac development or disease. We are interested in applicants with strong interest in using the mouse as a model for human genetic diseases
Research focus: Our lab investigates cell fate progression of cardiac progenitor cells in mouse models of human 22q11.2 deletion syndrome. The chromosome 22q11.2 deletion syndrome is a genetic disorder occurring in 1/4000 live births. Most patients have congenital heart disease as well as other medical conditions. We are determining single-cell based molecular mechanisms that are disrupted in mouse models of 22q11.2 deletion syndrome in early staged mouse embryos.
Lab expertise: The expertise needed includes being able to perform extensive mouse genetic crosses, microdissection of regions containing progenitor cells in the hearts in mouse embryos, immunofluorescence on tissue sections from staged mouse embryos, as well as single cell RNA-sequencing and ATAC-sequencing with data analysis.
