Job Description
We’re hiring an Analytics Engineer who thrives at the intersection of SQL-heavy data engineering and real-world business impact. You’ll own robust data pipelines, shape clean data models, and deliver trusted insights. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning both the backend (pipelines, tests, models) and frontend (dashboards, business questions) of the analytics lifecycle.
Qualifications:
Required Skills & Experience:
- 2-5 years in analytics engineering, data engineering, data science, or BI/analytics roles.
- SQL expert: window functions, joins, aggregations, etc. Know how to write SQL.
- BI tools: experience with Qlik Sense (load scripts, expressions, data model viewer) or similar (Tableau/Powers BI/Looker/ etc).
- Data modeling: have used or helped create an EDW. Understand the concepts of facts/dimensions.
- Collaboration: great communicator who can present to all levels of the organization.
Preferred/Valued Competencies
- Python for data prep, analysis and data science pipelines.
- dbt for SQL-based transformations and testing.
- Redshift/SQL Server administration basics.
- Orchestration (Airflow, Step Functions), CI/CD, and Git workflows.
- Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CloudFormation).
- ETL with SSIS: building, deploying, scheduling, and troubleshooting packages.
- AWS experience.
Responsibilities:
- Build & maintain data pipelines: Develop, schedule, and monitor ETL/ELT workflows using SSIS and AWS services (e.g., S3, Glud/Lambda/Step Functions). Migrate/modernize legacy jobs where it makes sense.
- Model data for analytics: Create well-structured datasets (star/snowflake schemas), conformed dimensions, and reusable marts to power BI and self-serve.
- Enable BI & self-serve: Deliver dashboards and apps in Qlik Sense; publish clear data definitions and usage guides.
- Partner with the business: Translate goals into data requirements, define KPSs, run analyses (trends, cohorts, segmentation), and present insights.
- SQL at scale: Write performant SQL (window functions, CTEs, query turning), manage schemas, and optimize warehouse usage.
- Data quality & governance: Implement tests/monitors, version control, and documentation; handle PII securely and follow access controls.
- Ad hoc analysis: Answer time-sensitive questions with clean queries and concise narratives.
