Job Title: FSQA Sr. Supervisor
Department: Quality Control
Payrate: $29-$32, Hourly non-exempt
Report To: FSQA Director

FSQA Sr. Supervisor has responsibility for managing the daily functions of the Food Safety and Food Regulations for Grower Direct Nut and GDNIS/the Nutty Gourmet Plants. Will oversee Customer audits, Non conformances, Regulatory audits, Internal Audits, Customer Specs, Questioners & Certs. Will work in cooperation with Quality Control Manager to maintain the BRC system and a Food safety culture in the plant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Manage Food Safety, Food Defense, Regulations, document control
• Supervise FSQA coordinator and assist with supervising Microbiology Lab and QC employees.
• Direct the planning and implementation of Food safety programs and procedures in order to ensure that Grower Direct Nut Company, Inc. and all specialty lines (Napasol, Butter Line, and Roaster) processes complies with government regulations.
• Foster and lead Continuous improvements and maintain CAPA program.
• Work together with FSQA Director on the creation of new processes around the plant & maintain new documentation for food safety system and customer specifications.
• Assist in conducting BRC, Customer, and third party and regulatory audits.
• Responsible for the documentation of all Food safety aspects for sanitation, pest control and finished product.
• Verify and monitor all Food safety and HACCP Programs.
• Monitor and measure the effectiveness of the Food safety management system and culture penetration.
• Collaborate completing and up keeping customer’s questioners and responding any new customer inquiries.
• Recertify & keep current on BRC, HACCP, PCQI, GMP, FDA/USDA employee certifications
• Interact with all levels of the organization. Ability to effectively handle a variety of assignments simultaneously
• Regularly identifies areas that can be improved and constructively proposes and implements projects and solutions that increase values and improve business performance.
• Maintain Company CCOF, HALAL, Kosher, American Heart, and non GMO Certifications.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities are not limited to the above mentioned and may include assisting other departments within reasonable and related tasks.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands
o Will frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, taste and smell.
o Will frequently sit and occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl.
o Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 30 pounds frequently.
o Must lift with arms up to floor to waist, waist to shoulder 30 pounds.
o Must be able to constantly stand/stoop/walk/bend, up to 12 hrs.
o Ability to strenuous flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently (15 flexion/minute).
o Use of computer, keyboard and mouse.
Work environment
o May work near moving mechanical parts.
o May work around wet or humid conditions, in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and/or risk of vibration.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
1. Knowledge in HACCP, HARPC, GMP, BRC, FDA/USDA regulations.
2. SQF Practitioner preferred or BRC Trained.
3. HACCP and PCQI Certified.
4. Ability to communicate and deal with a diverse staff in a professional manner.
5. Ability to organize work, multi-task and consistently meet deadlines.
6. Knowledge of safety regulations, and some mechanical aptitude and organizational skills.
7. Proven ability to lead and facilitate in a team environment and build consensus in a positive manner with customers and team members.
8. Proficiency in setting priorities and executing multiple assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
9. Self-starter with strong leadership skills, a high degree of integrity and demonstrable results understanding of the business operating environment and customer needs to deliver results effectively.
10. Proactively assists others in response to their business needs in order to build strong working relationships.
11. Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or in a related field preferred, or, 7-10 years of experience working in the area of quality assurance/quality control with experience managing direct reports.
12. Must have a valid California Driver license.
