About the Role:
The Barback plays a crucial support role within the bar team, ensuring that bartenders have everything they need to provide excellent service to customers efficiently and effectively. This position involves maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar area, restocking supplies, and assisting with the preparation of garnishes and other bar essentials. The Barback helps to create a seamless workflow behind the bar, enabling bartenders to focus on mixing and serving drinks promptly. This role requires a proactive and energetic individual who can anticipate the needs of the bartenders and respond quickly to busy periods. Ultimately, the Barback contributes significantly to the overall customer experience by supporting a smooth and well-functioning bar operation. Must have TABC /FH certifications upon hire.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of bar operations and terminology.
- Strong physical stamina to lift heavy items such as kegs and boxes of supplies.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
- Legal age to serve or handle alcohol as per local regulations. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a bar or hospitality environment.
- Familiarity with health and safety standards related to food and beverage service.
- Basic knowledge of drink recipes and bar equipment.
- Certification in responsible alcohol service or similar training.
- Ability to multitask effectively during busy service periods.
Responsibilities:
- Restock bar inventory including liquor, beer, wine, ice, glassware, and other supplies throughout the shift to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including washing glassware, cleaning spills, and disposing of trash promptly.
- Assist bartenders by preparing garnishes, cutting fruit, and setting up bar stations before and during service.
- Collect and clean empty glasses and bottles from tables and bar counters to maintain a tidy environment.
- Communicate effectively with bartenders and other staff to anticipate needs and respond quickly during peak hours.
- Participate in leaning, education and on the job training.
