Title: Human Resources Generalist
Reports to: Director/Manger of Human Resources
Summary/Objective
Administers and supports core human resource functions, including leave management, attendance tracking, employee relations, and regulatory compliance, while maintaining accurate records and ensuring consistent application of policies within a unionized and safety-sensitive environment.
Essential Functions

- Administers sick pay and attendance tracking for union employees in accordance with collective bargaining agreements and organizational policies.
- Receives, validates, and scans submitted attendance documentation
- Serves as employee contact for sick pay discrepancies and attendance inquiries.
- Conducts employee relations investigations, provides recommendations to leadership, and supports the organization in disciplinary meetings by preparing/reviewing documentation related to disciplinary actions, grievances and compliance matters.
- Maintains confidentiality and ensures equitable and consistent application of policies.
- Establish and maintain confidential employee files.
- Maintain necessary turnover statistics.
- Communicate, administer and maintain records for FMLA, Medical Leave, ADA, and Short-Term Disability programs.
- Provide interpretations to management personnel in compliance with corporate discipline policies and procedures.
- Cross-train and be responsive to all Human Resources inquiries from Team Members and Agencies.
- Interface with various agencies such as Worker’s Compensation, Unemployment Insurance, EEOC, etc.
- Ensures compliance with all federal state, and local government regulations as they relate to the Human Resource functions.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere in the company, which will foster an “open door” policy to improve employee communications and satisfaction.
- Generate reports and conduct audits to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Executes other duties as directed by the Human Resource Director/Manager.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office and a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts in the manufacturing environment. The noise level is usually moderate.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position is Monday through Friday, with hours to be determined. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience.
- Three (3) – Five (5) years’ experience in a Generalist role.
- Employee Relations Experience
- Microsoft Office and ADP or other HRIS System Experience
Preferred Education and Experience
- PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP Certification strongly preferred
- HR experience in a transportation environment
- Working Knowledge of Trapeze and Sage
