About this position
RaceTec is seeking a hands-on Sales Lead with real automotive performance and engine-building experience to support and grow our aftermarket, builder, and distributor customer base, while serving as the primary inside partner to our regional field sales representatives.
This role is designed for someone who understands pistons, compression ratios, applications, lead times, and how performance customers buy, and who can help connect field activity to internal execution.
This is a working sales leader role. You will actively sell, manage key accounts, and help coordinate daily execution between customers, field reps, and internal teams by setting the standard for technical knowledge, communication, and follow-through.
This position is not a formal management role, but it carries strong influence and responsibility for keeping RaceTec’s sales engine running smoothly from trackside and shop floor to production and shipping.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Performance Sales Leadership & Field Rep Coordination.
- Serve as the primary inside support partner for regional field sales representatives
- Help coordinate territory coverage, customer follow-ups, and open opportunities between field reps and internal sales
- Support field reps with technical piston applications, quoting, lead times, and build-specific requirements
- Ensure quotes, orders, and special programs initiated in the field are executed accurately and on time internally
- Set the standard for professional communication, documentation, and follow-through across inside and field sales
Customer Growth & Builder Relationships
Manage and grow relationships with engine builders, performance shops, distributors, and racing accounts
- Partner with field reps on joint account development, large opportunities, and key customer visits
- Identify customer build goals and recommend piston solutions based on application, power level, fuel type, and intended use
- Support promotions, race programs, and performance marketing initiatives
- Maintain strong customer retention through proactive follow-up and issue resolution
Sales Operations & Market Intelligence
Maintain accurate CRM records for accounts, opportunities, quotes, and field activity
- Track open opportunities, forecast demand, and support pipeline visibility for leadership and field reps
- Collect and communicate market feedback from the field, including competitor activity, pricing trends, and product gaps
- Provide internal teams with visibility into upcoming programs, large builds, and regional demand patterns
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with production, warehouse, and customer service to align lead times, inventory, and delivery expectations for field-driven opportunities
- Help resolve order issues, returns, credits, or shipping concerns quickly and professionally
- Partner with marketing to support field reps with technical materials, promotions, and new product launches
Onboarding & Sales Enablement
- Assist in onboarding new field and inside sales reps on RaceTec products, applications, quoting processes, and performance market expectations
- Help develop and maintain technical reference tools, application guides, and quoting standards for sales use
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 3+ years of sales experience in the automotive performance or engine-building industry
- Strong understanding of performance engine components, piston applications, and builder/distributor sales cycles
- Experience working with or supporting field sales representatives or rep agencies
- Ability to lead by example and influence peers through technical knowledge, organization, and follow-through
- Strong quoting, order management, pipeline tracking, and consultative selling skills
- Confident technical communicator with strong written and verbal skills
- CRM experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams)
