NextStar Energy (NSE) is Canada’s first large-scale battery manufacturing facility. Located in Windsor, Ontario, NextStar Energy is dedicated to the development and innovation of sustainable and efficient energy solutions, empowering the future of mobility.

The manufacturing facility is targeted to have an annual production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled “L&S tech engineer” to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for “Installation and management of lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing process and equipment”. This role requires a strong understanding of PFD, PFMEA, CP, OEE, Yield, production result, and Machine parts, Mechanical and electrical drawing analysis, problem solving skills, communication and collaboration,

Responsibilities:

  • Applies engineering techniques to install, modify, analyze, repair and test tools, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment.
  • Confers with production engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information. 
  • Monitor production performance and suggest improvements. 
  • Investigates process, work method failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
  • Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any engineering major is preferred (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial, etc.)
  • MS Office tool-based report writing and oral communication skills
  • Advanced Skill of computational draft program [Ex. Auto CAD, Solid works]
  • Ability to work well with individuals and teams across the company to achieve team goals and targets
  • Computational Skill, Troubleshooting, Problem-solving, Statistical knowledge
  • A team player who can multitask and thrive in a very dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in control (especially Siemens PLC) preferred
  • Experience in Canadian Safety Certification (ESA, PSR, TSSA, etc.) preferred
  • Master's Degree in Engineering preferred
  • 3+ years manufacturing industrial experiences (Especially, lithium-ion batteries industry)
  • 2+ years of experience in equipment maintenance (Breakdown Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance) and troubleshooting (Problem Solving)
  • 2+ years of spare parts management
