About this position

Sportsman Boats is looking for a Cost Accountant to join the Accounting team! This role will have responsibilities through the entire procure-to-pay process. This is a rare opportunity to gain experience with all facets of material workflow in a manufacturing organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, excited to collaborate across departments, and not afraid to get their hands dirty when needed!

What you will do:

Accounts Payable Management:
- Process vendor invoices through optical character recognition.
- Work to move invoices through the approval workflow.
- Ensure timely and accurate payments while maximizing cash discounts.
- Review vendor account statements to address payment issues.
- Assist in responding to audit requests.
Credit Card Reconciliation:
- Review and reconcile monthly credit card statements to the general ledger.
- Maintain supporting documentation for all transactions.
Inventory Management and Cost Analysis:
- Work closely with the Warehouse Manager to resolve receiving issues.
- Assist in periodic cycle counts, and year end physical inventory.
- Calculate inventory reserve and analyze for opportunities to reduce slow moving or excess inventory.
- Research issues related to bill of materials inaccuracies and provide suggestions to Engineering.

To be considered you must have:

Bachelor’s degree
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must to succeed in this role.
- Xlookups, pivot tables, and if statements are used regularly.
Basic understanding of accounting principles.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
