At Sheryl K. Johnson Child Care Center, we believe that early childhood is the foundation for lifelong learning. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Teacher to join our team and help children grow into confident, curious, and capable learners.


Position Overview:  The Early Childhood Teacher will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where children can thrive socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. This role requires creativity, patience, and a commitment to building meaningful relationships with both children and families.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the classroom, playground, and common areas.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that support social-emotional, literacy, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Maintain accurate records of each child’s developmental progress through observation and documentation.
  • Create a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.
  • Engage with children daily through circle time, small groups, free play, meals, and outdoor activities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and families about their child’s daily experiences and developmental milestones.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to foster a positive, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrate regular, predictable, and reliable attendance to ensure consistency and stability for the children and the classroom environment.
  • Serve as a positive role model for children through professional conduct, language, and actions.  


Requirements:

  Qualifications

  • Preferred: Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (or actively working toward one).
  • Preferred: Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschoolers in a childcare or educational setting.
  • A nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic personality with a passion for teaching young children.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including lifting up to 40 pounds and engaging actively with children.
  • Willingness to complete or provide proof of the following (all paid for by the center if not current):

          · CPR/First Aid Certification

          · Mandatory Reporter Training

          · Universal Precautions Training

          · State-required background checks, physical, and TB test
