Position Summary:
The Commercial Driver is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods and other articles of trade to our customers across various destinations. This role involves driving a variety of vehicles, from trucks to large haulers, depending on the specific requirements of the delivery. The driver will ensure that all operations adhere to the laws and regulations governing vehicle operation and cargo transportation.

Role Responsibilities:
- Safely operate vehicles to transport goods and materials to and from specified destinations.
- Plan delivery routes to maximize efficiency and meet delivery schedules.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance where necessary.
- Document and log work/rest periods and kilometers spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts.
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, and check that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
- Collect and verify delivery instructions, ensuring all paperwork is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
- Report defects, accidents, or violations immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- Engage with clients and customers in a friendly and professional manner during deliveries, ensuring a positive company image.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience / Skills / Abilities:
- Valid truck driving license (e.g., CDL) and a clean driving record.
- Proven work experience as a truck driver or similar role.
- Hands-on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB, etc.).
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.).
- Strong physical endurance to maintain loading and unloading cargo as needed.
Job Expectations / Working Conditions:
- Extensive travel required, often over long distances.
- Must be able to sit and drive for extended periods.
- Ability to handle physical workload, including lifting, pushing, or pulling heavy objects.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures in the vehicle and at job sites.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by delivery schedules.
