About this position
Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) is seeking an LPN for our 20-bed Med Surg unit, where you'll provide essential patient care within the scope of your license. As a Licensed Practical Nurse at NVRH's Med/Surg unit, you'll work under the guidance and supervision of Registered Nurses to deliver direct nursing care to a diverse patient population, including medical, surgical, outpatient, observation, swing bed, and pediatric patients. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive patient care using the nursing process to assess, plan, and implement care for medical, surgical, pediatric, and swing bed patients, including completing initial and shift assessments, monitoring patient conditions, and communicating findings to the RN Clinical Lead
- Administer medications safely and accurately following the five rights of drug administration, including IM and PO medications, IV therapy management, blood product administration, and completing all required documentation in electronic systems
- Deliver patient and family education by reviewing and implementing teaching interventions, evaluating understanding of disease processes and treatments, incorporating education into daily care, and accessing appropriate educational materials and resources Operate medical equipment and support unit operations independently, including troubleshooting equipment issues, participating in staff orientation and quality improvement initiatives, and maintaining an expanded scope of practice that includes IV initiation, urinary catheterization, discharge planning, and assisting with specialized procedures
- Education: Graduate of a School of Practical Nursing
- Experience: Entry-level position available - new LPN graduates are encouraged to apply. One year of acute care experience preferred
- Licensure: Current Vermont Licensed Practical Nurse license required.
- Certifications: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association required
