We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Cost Accountant with strong experience in defense contracting and manufacturing environments. This role will be responsible for managing cost accounting functions, supporting compliance requirements, driving inventory accuracy, and leading cost-related system and process implementations. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in standard costing, FIFO inventory methodology, and ERP implementations within a government-regulated manufacturing setting.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain and analyze standard cost systems in a manufacturing environment
- Ensure accurate application of FIFO inventory methodology
- Perform cost roll-ups, variance analysis, and margin analysis
- Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances and provide actionable insights
- Reconcile inventory subledger to general ledger
- Oversee physical inventory counts and cycle count programs
- Ensure compliance with DCAA, FAR, and CAS requirements
- Support government audits and provide required documentation
- Assist in preparation of Incurred Cost Submissions (ICE)
- Maintain documentation supporting cost allocations and indirect rates
- Prepare journal entries related to inventory, WIP, and cost adjustments
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Develop cost models for pricing and government contract proposals
- Partner with operations to improve cost efficiency and visibility
- Lead or support ERP implementations or system upgrades related to costing and inventory
- Develop and improve standard costing processes
- Streamline reporting and improve internal controls
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance and operations
Schedule:
- M-F, 8-5 -Central Time. Ability to work after hours during the week and weekends, as the workload requires.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working for a defense contractor or government contractor
- Strong knowledge of standard costing and FIFO inventory methods
- Experience supporting audits and compliance requirements (DCAA/FAR/CAS)
- ERP system experience (e.g., Deltek, SAP, Oracle, Costpoint, etc.)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or CMA designation
- Experience leading ERP or cost system implementations
- Experience with government contract pricing
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- CONUS travel may be required from time to time.

The pay range for this role is:
105,000 - 110,000 USD per year(Albers Aero HQ-Albers Headquarters)
