Position Overview
We are seeking a results-driven Local Market Manager - Recovery to drive growth across our Refrigerant Recovery Programs. This dynamic leadership role blends hands-on refrigerant recovery field service work, direct sales, and technician management. You’ll oversee both a Recovery Technician and an Exchange Technician, ensuring operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and revenue growth.
You will actively develop new business opportunities, pursue new customer relationships, perform recovery jobs, and assist with exchange operations as needed. This is a field-facing leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in service, sales, and people management, and can effectively balance the demands of each on a daily basis.
The ideal candidate must have a background in sales, service, excellent leadership skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time position in the NYC Metro area.
Key responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:
Leadership & Oversight
- Manage and support the Recovery Technician and Exchange Technician, setting daily schedules, ensuring job readiness (staffing, equipment etc), and quality standards are met.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and accountability to ensure consistent performance and development.
- Monitor and report on technician performance, recovery volumes, and customer feedback.
- Act as the go-to field leader and liaison between technicians and corporate operations.
Business Development & Sales
- Prospect and qualify new customers for the recovery and exchange programs
- Schedule and perform in-person visits and follow-up calls to present Hudson’s full-service recovery solutions.
- Convert “buy-back only” or inactive customers into full-service partners.
- Track all sales activities and recovery opportunities in CRM system.
- Collaborate with customer service, sales and finance teams to coordinate scheduling, billing, and follow-up.
Recovery Operations
- Operate a small-format recovery truck and perform on-site refrigerant recovery for a variety of applications
- Step in to assist with cylinder exchanges when additional support is needed.
- Ensure all work follows Hudson SOPs, EPA regulations, and safety protocols.
- Submit completed work orders, BOLs, and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Serve as a face of Hudson in the field, building trust through professionalism and service excellence.
Required skills and experience:
- 5+ years of experience in HVAC, refrigerant recovery, or environmental services.
- Proven track record in outside sales or business development.
- 3-5 years’ experience in managing field or technical staff
- EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
- OSHA 10, OSHA 40/SST certification, or willingness to obtain certifications, is highly preferred
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with HazMat endorsement preferred
- Comfortable with physical labor and operating recovery machines and cylinder handling equipment.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), organization, and customer service skills.
- Tech-savvy and proficient using digital work orders, CRM tools, and mobile apps.
- Clean driving record and willingness to travel within assigned territory.
- DOT card required or able to be obtained within 14 days of hiring
- This position is subject to DOT testing following hire
