About this position
Advanced Sentry LLC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support a global technology platform focused on internet security and threat detection. This role involves designing, building, and operating distributed systems that process large-scale signals used to detect and mitigate platform abuse.
The engineer will work across the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, development, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement of backend services that support security, compliance, and abuse detection workflows.
This is a contract opportunity supporting a major cybersecurity platform, with the potential for extension based on performance and project needs.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain distributed systems that process large volumes of security and abuse signals.
Build scalable backend services and APIs used for automated detection and mitigation workflows.
Develop and maintain data pipelines that collect, analyze, and act on abuse signals at scale.
Collaborate with security, legal, product, and threat intelligence teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Improve monitoring, observability, and reliability of production systems.
Write well-tested, modular, and maintainable code following modern software engineering practices.
Contribute to system architecture and performance optimization initiatives.
Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
5+ years of experience in systems engineering or backend software development.
Strong programming experience with Golang (Go).
Experience building and operating distributed systems in production environments.
Experience working with Kubernetes or containerized infrastructure.
Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development.
Experience working with PostgreSQL or other SQL databases.
Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.
Understanding of HTTP and internet networking protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Kafka, Redis, Prometheus, or Grafana.
Experience with Docker and containerized environments.
Familiarity with DNS and internet infrastructure.
Background working in Trust & Safety or security-related platforms.
Experience building systems supporting compliance, threat detection, or abuse mitigation.
