Pharmacy Technician Specialist Certified Job Duties:
Assist the pharmacists in the performance of clerical, technical and non-professional functions in the provision of pharmaceutical services to patients, staff and physicians. The Technician works under the supervision of the Pharmacist-on-duty. Coordinates the implementation, integration, and maintenance of the Automated Dispensing Cabinet system. Maintains the integration of the Automated dispensing cabinet formulary with the IS system i.e. drug formulary, software updates. Trains hospital staff in related functionality of the automated dispensing cabinet system and the Pharmacy application of GE. Monitors performance and prepare reports from the automated dispensing cabinet system and GE Pharmacy system. Coordinates the implementation of Bar Code technology for pharmacy operations.

- Maintains the integration of the automated dispensing cabinet formulary with the IS system.
- Trains hospital staff in related functionality of the automated dispensing cabinet system and the pharmacy application of the GE Information System.
- Monitors performance and prepare reports from the automated dispensing cabinet system and GE Information System.
- Coordinates the implementation of bar code technology to pharmacy operations.
- Performs all functions related to being a Pharmacy Technician.
Pharmacy Technician Specialist Certified Minimum Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years
- Bachelor’s degree in: Computer science or related technical area preferred.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician is required.
- Strong computer-related skills. Previous experience with a pharmacy information system is preferred.
- Experience in the implementation and maintenance of technology-related products is preferred.
- Analytical skills are necessary to evaluate problems and arrange appropriate service or develop plans and procedures to achieve resolution, ensure completion and evaluate effectiveness.
- Independent judgment necessary to work in accordance with departmental practices and general directives received from the Director. Demonstrates effective and efficient organization and time management skills.
- Strong leadership abilities and abilities to work with a variety of diverse people and organizations including nurses, directors, managers, IS analysts and technical staff. Ability to think conceptually and translate broad organizational issues to the daily operational level.
- Excellent communication skills which frequently involve collaborating with IS analysts and technical support staff, vendors, management/leadership and other hospital personnel.
Salary Range: $18.00 to $27.50/hr (based on experience)
