We at Baytech Plastics, an injection moulding manufacturer on the shores of Georgian Bay, are currently seeking qualified, high energy and self-motivated individuals for our Toolroom.

The Toolroom Tech performs a range of technical tasks related to the machining, servicing, and maintenance of molds and tool room equipment. Responsibilities include insert changes in molds; setting up and operating powered and non-powered equipment; grinding, welding, lubricating, polishing, and metal treatment; operating computers; taking precise measurements; driving tow motors and vehicles; The Toolroom Tech also conducts water pressure testing and performs mathematical calculations using technical instruments such as caliper micrometers and height gauges. The role requires the ability to design and build complex fixtures and to assess and troubleshoot technical problems.
To perform these duties, the Toolroom Tech must have general knowledge of machining, mold making, hydraulics, electricity, trigonometry, welding, computers, WHMIS, and applicable safety regulations. Basic computer knowledge is required. This knowledge must include both theoretical understanding and practical application in order to effectively carry out the work.
The role requires clear communication skills to write technical reports, prepare sketches, and compile lists of required items. The Toolroom Tech must also read and understand policies and procedures, follow direction, explain issues to employees and supervisors, recommend corrective actions, and communicate technical matters using appropriate terminology.
