Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Planning Administrator or their designee. The job selection process allows for the selection of a candidate at either the Planner 1 or Senior Planner position based on their experience and education. Assists with the coordination and preparation of planning activities, reviewing permits, plats and site plans; ensuring compliance with ordinances, statutes and regulations; conducts research; maintaining records and files; preparing reports. (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.) <ul style="padding-left: 2rem; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 3pt; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><li>Reviews development and related land use permit applications, site plans, subdivision plats, etc.</li><li>Examines applications for compliance with established plans and ordinances, and applicable local, state or federal regulation. </li><li>Gathers, assimilates, interprets and analyzes a variety of data, requests and information pertaining to planning and zoning operations.</li><li>Assists with professional and administrative support to Planning Board, Board of Adjustments and City Council as required.</li><li>Receives, researches and processes zoning questions, requests and appeals.</li><li>Assists the public with applications and inquiries.</li><li>Prepares, issues and performs field inspections for items associated with permits.</li><li>Performs related tasks as required.</li></ul>
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in urban planning, engineering, public administration or a related field and 6 months to 2 years of professional experience in urban or transportation planning and/or community development activities. Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
