Position Summary
The Medical Assistant (MA) supports physicians, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, and other clinical staff in delivering high-quality patient care within a private OB/GYN practice. The MA performs both clinical and administrative duties to ensure efficient office operations and excellent patient experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities

Room patients and obtain vital signs, height, weight, and medical history

Prepare patients for examinations and procedures

Assist providers during pelvic exams, procedures, and minor in-office surgeries

Collect and process specimens (urine, blood, cultures, Pap tests, etc.)

Perform CLIA-waived lab testing (pregnancy tests, urinalysis, etc.)

Administer injections and vaccines as directed
-
Provide patient education and follow-up instructions
-
Clean and sterilize instruments and exam rooms

Maintain exam room supplies and equipment
Administrative Responsibilities

Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)

Process prescription refills per protocol

Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals

Handle prior authorizations and insurance verification as needed

Answer patient phone calls and respond to portal messages

Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent required
-
Completion of accredited Medical Assistant program preferred

Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred

Current CPR certification required
-
OB/GYN experience preferred but not required
