About this position
Duties will include:*Interpreting blueprints: Studying drawings, specifications, and blueprints to determine job requirements *Preparing metal: Selecting and preparing metal stock for fabrication and order of assembly *Cutting and shaping: Using saws, lathes, drill presses, and grinders to cut, bend, and shape metal components *Welding: Joining metal components together using welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and ARC *Measuring and planning: Measuring and planning to reduce waste, and marking cutting and bending lines *Setting up machinery: Setting up metalwork machinery *Grinding and finishing: Grinding and finishing completed products *Quality checks: Performing detailed quality checks to ensure that completed products meet all standards and requirements *Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and well-organized work area*Use various complex hand and power tools to perform custom fabrications*Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions and at times in austere locations *Available to work long hours and respond to afterhours call outsRequired skills:*Accurately read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings and plans.*Meticulous use of measuring instruments including calipers, gauges, micrometers and tape measures.*Proficient welding skills to include MIG, TIG and ARC.*Advanced experience with cutting torches, shears, nail sets and grinding equipment*Focused attention to detail and accuracy*Excellent communication and active listening skills*Physical stamina, dexterity and color vision*Time management and organizational skills*The ability to work in a fast-paced environment* Basic computer skills for inventory management*Proactive and initiative driven work ethic *Honest, punctual, and reliable Required Qualifications:*High School diploma or equivalent*Certified Welder. Certification from American Welding Society is a plus *Valid drivers license and clean driving record*Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
